Abstract
Background: The dorsal aesthetic lines is considered one of the fundamental components in aesthetic rhinoplasty. Nasal osteotomies have been considered one of the complex techniques in rhinoplasty surgery. Traditionally, vertical intermediate osteotomies were used. Aim: This research elucidates the aesthetic outcome of the transverse type of intermediate osteotomies in rhinoplasty. Patients and Methods: This study is a case series carried out on ten patients subjected to transverse intermediate nasal osteotomies. Patients were assessed aesthetically both by the surgeon and a layperson based on pre and postoperative visual analogue scale (VAS) and frontal view photography. Results: Comparing pre and post operative VAS showed statistically significant improvement with median score improvement from 8 to 1-2 which is 80% improvement with a P value of 0.004 for surgeon and layperson. Conclusion: Transverse type of intermediate osteotomy technique has shown significant improvement in the aesthetic outcome following the correction of the twisted nasal deformity.
