Abstract

Aim: Obstruction of the nasal passages resulting from anatomical, allergic or inflammatory factors represents a prevalent concern within the medical field. This work aimed to evaluate trans-septal quilting sutures efficacy compared with intranasal silicone splint and nasal pack in prevention of morbidity and complication after septoplasty operation. Methods: This randomized prospective study included 90 cases suffering from nasal obstruction due to significant septal deviation in Otorhinolaryngology department at Tanta University Hospitals. The cases were randomly assigned to one of treatment groups through closed, opaque random envelops in a ratio of 1:1:1. Patients were alienated to 3 equal groups: Group (1): Quilting sutures were be done after endoscopic assisted septoplasty, group (2): Nasal pack was inserted after endoscopic assisted septoplasty and group (3): Intra-nasal silicon splint was be inserted after endoscopic assisted septoplasty.
